Responsibilities: 

• Collaborate within a multi-disciplinary research environment consisting of computational scientists,  computer scientists, experimentalists, and engineers/physicists conducting basic and applied research in  support of the Laboratory’s missions. 
• Participate in the development of parallel large-scale computationally efficient numerical methods and  discretization schemes algorithms using C++, message passing (MPI), and programming models (e.g.,  CUDA, OpenMP, Kokkos) for multicore and heterogeneous architectures such as graphical processing units  (GPUs) for the simulation of complex reacting flows for applications such as material synthesis,  dehydrogenation, and separation processes. 
• Participate in the design and architecture of integrated, multi-scale, coupled-physics computer codes,  design and implementation of scalable numerical methods, uncertainty quantification, and following team  planning, documentation, verification and validation, and software quality processes. 
• Author peer reviewed papers, as well as present in workshops and conferences.

• Study the atomistic description of porous medium deformation mechanisms when subjected to wide range  of loading rates and temperatures. 
• Evaluate and assess the size effect on metallic foams deformation under tension and compression. 
• Develop scaling laws that capture metallic foams mechanical properties as a function of the bulk material. 
• Develop state-of-the-art dislocation based constitutive models that capture the plastic flow in metallic foams  under compression and tension for wide range of strain rates and temperatures.
